Karabo By You
From the streets of Vereeniging to feet of Lebron.
With content captured by the South African Nike team, our task was to introduce South African artist, Karabo Poppy, to the Nike community and tell her story on the global stage.
Her cultural inspirations are found on the walls of the babershops she grew up going to with her family. The imagery was the only place she saw art that looked like her. She uses unconventional canvases like basketball court and AF1s to make art more accessible.
My role as a designer was to strategically map out the story across all deliverables in the Nike ecosystem, social channels and bespoke 3D builder.
I composed a narrative outline the story across each execution and designed each touchpoint along the way.
3D Builder Improvements
With each 3D builder is the opportunity to improve the experience. I worked closely with our agency partner and redesigned the builder load bar, created icons for each of Karabo’s distinct themes, sharable graphics template and convinced the team to include the lead design assortments (that would autohide) as a way to keep people inspired while designing but never could the interface as they continued to customize.
Art Direction by Meirion Pritchard
I also worked closely with our Agency partner on the bespoke 3D Builder to improve the UI and storytelling. This include these icons that represented Karabos’s three distinct designs.
